Non-Negotiables for IEPs: Even on the Bad Days

As the host of the Special Education Inner Circle podcast, I make it my mission to show up for you every single week. Even when my schedule is a total dumpster fire and I'm running on fumes, I refuse to let this podcast slip by undone.

And you know what? That same unshakeable commitment needs to be discussed between every IEP team for every child. There are certain non-negotiables that have to be in place, no matter what unexpected chaos is swirling on the most difficult school days.

I'm talking about the essentials that keep a child engaged, communicating, and accessing their education - even on those apocalyptically bad days when nothing is going right.

Get a few ideas of what I mean by non-negotiables in this episode...

So I challenge you: Huddle up with your IEP team and identify the non-negotiables. The absolute must-haves that have to be in place, no matter what curveballs life throws your way.

It's not about making an exhaustive list - it's about pinpointing the critical elements that give your child the best chance of succeeding, even on the most challenging days.

Because when the wheels inevitably come off (and they will), at least you'll know those foundational supports are solid. And that can make all the difference.

I'll be back next week with more strategies to level up your Special Education strategies with simple solutions. In the meantime, don't forget to check out the Master IEP Coach® Mentorship if you're ready to start hearing a lot more "yes's" and a lot fewer "no's" at your IEP meetings.
