If a child lacks confidence in communicating, they communicate less. When they communicate less, they develop a habit of not participating. This habit can often follow them into adulthood. That’s exactly why we need to work together in Special Education to provide research-based programs in the area of communication. We also need to get serious about the data that needs to be collected and the teamwork it takes between parents and teachers to see meaningful progress in the area of communication.
